Dartington Hall Wedding, Totnes, Devon Wedding Photographer

Katie & Jamie

When Jamie and Katie first asked me about photographing their wedding at the ever so stunning Dartington Hall. I was so excited, but also a little nervous. Katie herself is an awesome photographer not to mention Jamie being a photographer and photo retoucher in the creative industry. So it was of course a huge privelidge and honour when they booked. Knowing these two already, I knew the day was going to be awesome and it didn’t disappoint.

Both Katie and Jamie got ready at Dartington Hall, just along the corridor from each other. Both took a very relaxed approach to getting ready for their big day. Jamie filtered between getting ready and sorting the last few jobs as there is on any wedding day. Whilst Katie was sipping champagne surrounded by her bridesmaids, having her hair and makeup completed, all excited for the day ahead. Being late in the year, the weather was 100% in our favour and the sun was shining.

Jamie headed to out to greet friends and family who had travelled from all corners of the globe. Katie, put on her Sottero and Midgely dress and added the final touches to her dress and make up. I took this chance to grab a few quick portraits before we headed out to the ceremony area. This was setup outside at Dartington Hall, shadowed by the stunning grounds and 12th Century great hall.

The ceremony was perfect and all conducted by one of their close friends who had put together a service full of laughter, jokes and a few personal touches. As Jamie and Katie’s family and friends looked on, they exchanged their own personal vows, rings and finally a kiss before heading back up the aisle as husband and wife. As the guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the sun. I took the opportunity to shoot some family portraits which Katie had sourced some kiss ass old furniture for. As the guests started to make their way in for the wedding breakfast in the great hall, we headed off to shoot some couple portraits in the stunning grounds at Dartington Hall.

Speeches were full of laughter and were a great way to round off a stunning wedding breakfast. Both parents and groomsmen shared some fantastic stories and brought plenty of laughter and tears. As the light started to fade we headed out back in to grounds to snap a few more images before finishing up with some night portraits in the courtyard.

We finished the night with first dance and of course plenty of crazy dance moves. It was a total pleasure being able to capture this truly awesome day. So much thought went in to the details and it was a pleasure to be back ay Dartington Hall Weddings.
